Educational apps for children

Since the lockdown in Canada started in mid-March, everyone has been going through a difficult time. And for parents having to work from home, and trying to keep their children busy at the same time, lockdown becomes even more challenging. That’s why in this blog post, I will talk about a couple of educational apps for children. These apps help to enhance the learning process for children.

All of the school boards in Ontario (and across Canada) have been trying to keep students engaged through online learning. However, most parents will find that children still need more activity to fill their day. One way to do this, is by introducing the children to some educational apps.

Math Play

You can use Math Play to improve the child’s skills in math. It presents the user with a set of mathematical questions that have to be answered correctly. The more correct answers, the more points the user accumulates and the more challenging the questions become. Also, after the user answers the first few questions correctly, the app introduces a timer. With the timer on, the user has to give an answer before the time runs out.

The user is able to select one of the 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division). Or they can choose to have the app select an operation at random with every new question. Math Play is available for free in Apple’s App Store here, and in the Google Play Store here.

Word Play

Word Play is a great app for improving anyone’s language skills. It can be played by children as well as adults. One of the great features of the app is that it can be played in 6 different languages (English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Portuguese and Russian).

The app presents the user with a word with all of its letters hidden. The objective of the game is for the user to reveal all of the letters of the word within the allowed number of mistakes.

The user has the option to select what level to play at. There are 5 levels in this game (Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard and Very Hard). The more difficult the level, the longer the word that the user has to reveal.

This game is available for free in Apple’s App Store here, and in the Google Play Store here.

Both of these apps were developed by my company, W3 Applications Inc. Please give them a try, and I’m sure you will find them useful and enjoyable. If you have any suggestions for improving the apps, or for any other feedback, please don’t hesitate to send me an email.
